Peter R. Kurzweil, M.D.
Orthopedic Surgeon/Sports Medicine
As a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Kurzweil is committed to helping his patients return to their work or sports in the shortest possible time. Dr. Kurzweil graduated Summa Cum Laude (highest honors) from Amherst College in Massachusetts with a degree in chemistry. He earned his medical degree at the University of Rochester in New York and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha (highest honors). After his orthopedic residency at Columbia University in New York City, he completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine. He is on staff at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where he served as Chairman of the Orthopedic department. Dr. Kurzweil has special interest in athletic injuries, and knee and shoulder problems. He has authored numerous journal articles and textbook chapters in these areas, and serves on the Editorial Board of two prestigious sports journals.
